William and his family probably moved from Frederick County, Virginia to Wythe County, Virginia around 1799. His first land purchase in Wythe County, Virginia was in 1799 and the Wythe County record says "William Lehu of County of Frederick, Virginia." The last Wythe county record we found for him was an 1816 record - William and Delphy, his wife, sold the land in Wythe County on which they had lived. This indicated that Delphia, his first wife, was still alive in 1816, and perhaps died between 1816 and 1824, when William married for the 2nd time. According to his grandson, Perry Commodore Hurst, (speaking thru his daughter-in-law, Pearl Hall Hurst) Henry died while on a visit with son John L at Pekin, Washington County, Indiana in the fall or winter of 1843/44. He apparently became ill with typhoid fever from a well on the corner of the Tash place, in (old) Pekin, Polk Twp. near the right angle turn in the (old) Pekin Road. The well, which flooded in the spring, has since been covered over. He was buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, southwest of Pekin in an unmarked grave. Perry stated that his grandfather was buried along side the grave with the iron fence around it. There is only one grave in that cemetery with an iron fence around it. It is located in the south part of the cemetery, close to the area where the cholera victims are buried. He related that his grandfather, Henry, was a cripple, having suffered white leg as a youth. He rode with a country doctor in Virginia, helping him care for his patients, in return for assist in learning to care for his leg. He learned much that was to be useful to the family when they traveled into the frontier country in the early years of the 19th century. At one point, Henry had to set a broken bone for someone in the family, perhaps his son, Perry, after their move to Indiana Territory. When this person was later seen by a regular doctor, they were told that there was no need to reset the bone as he had done as good a job as any doctor could have done.

Also she was to receive rent of the real estate in Wytheville for life. Martha was to have the use of "my boy Clabe, and my Negro woman Eliza" for life. Martha was to have what personal property she wanted and the rest was to be sold and with proceeds divided among their children. At Martha's death, the executors were to sell the plantation, the lot in Wytheville and the slaves. Isaac's railroad stock was to be divided among his five youngest children. The whole estate was to be divided among all the children with the 2 children of his deceased daughter Mrs Sprinkle considered as one heir. Executors Martha and Robert Gibboney.

Early Adventurers in the Town of Evansham, by Mary B Kegley, 1998, page 195 (excerpt), The first Lehue (Lahew, Lehew, Lahue, Lahugh, etc.) mentioned in the Wythe County records was William Lahugh formerly of Frederick County, Virginia. He purchased 123 acres from Benjamin Smith in 1792 and in 1799 added 260 acres from Andrew and Sarah Crockett. He had a land entry for 15 acres on both sides of Reed Creek in 1797, a tract granted to him on May 21, 1799. According to family research William was born about 1745 in Warren County, Virginia, and was the son of Peter Lehew who died at Front Royal, Warren County, in the early 1780s. His wife was said to be Hannah who appears to have died before William made his will. William Lehew signed his will with an X on November 22, 1811, and the will was probated on February 11, 1812. He names his eldest daughter "the widow of William Fetheringale;" his second daughter, Rebecca Lesting; eldest son, William; daughter Winny Hurst; son John; daughter Rachel, wife of John Craig; daughter Leah Davis; and daughter Elizabeth Smyth, all of whom were to receive $1 from the estate. His two sons, Spencer and Cornelius, were to have the tract of land William lived on and sons John and Isaac were each to have $70. Daughter Nancy Lehew and niece Polly were to have the personal property. Spencer and Cornelius Lehew were to be the executors of the will. The appraisal and sale were recorded in 1812. Several of these children moved to Harrison County, Indiana, and John moved to Grayson County, Kentucky. Isaac was the one with connections to the Town of Evansham. Isaac Lahue, son of William Lahew, was born on August 20, 1787, and died in Wythe County on November 14, 1856. He was married to Martha (Patsey) D (erroneously Catey in the typed marriage record, but the original is correct) Sayers, daughter of David Sayers Jr, on February 27, 1823. She was born on December 23, 1802, and died on August 25, 1875. Isaac's name appears numerous times as he posted several bonds in order to serve as constable, first in the 1st Battalion of the 35th Regiment of the militia and then in the 1st District of Wythe County. The earliest date is 1814, and the latest date is 1841. His name appears in the claims against the county for pay as constable, and in 1820 for 72 hours of patrol he was paid $4.50. Isaac also served as an overseer of the poor and an agent of the board. Between 1830 and 1846 he signed apprenticeship bonds for more than 45 poor children of the county who were to be bound out to trades and occupations. He was chosen guardian for Isabella Longacre, orphan of Andrew Longacre, deceased, and appointed guardian for Nancy Almeda Nye, orphan of John P Nye. In 1830 he was chosen as guardian for James Tade and was to bind him out to learn the trade as a tailor with James Draper. In 1816 Isaac obtained lot 60 on the southeast side of Main Street, the 21st lot southeast from the Cross Street from the Davis heirs. In 1818 he sold the same lot to Harvey Andrews for $410. The lot was located on the southeast side of Main Street being the 21st southeast of the Cross Street. In 1836 he purchased lot 68 at auction for $201. This was the lot John Seavers conveyed to Mathew Aiken in trust. This lot was transferred by Lahue's executor, E H Umberger. In 1882 to two Negro men M T Brown and Edmond Smith who bought it for $515. Smith got the house. Isaac Lahue left a will written on April 5, 1856, and it was probated at the December Term of Court the same year. He named his wife in the will as Martha D Lahue and to her he left the plantation where he resided for her natural life. Also she was to have the rents on the real estate in Wytheville for life. She was to have the use of "my boy Clabe, and my Negro woman Eliza" as long as she lives. In addition she was to have whatever part of the personal property she wanted and the rest was to be sold and the proceeds divided among the children. Any bonds owed at his death were to be collected and the money lent out by the executors and the interest paid to his wife every year but if that was not enough money, she was to use the principal amount for herself and the family. If the slaves disobeyed, they were to be sold and the proceeds lent out with the wife receiving the interest. At his wife's death, the executors were to sell the plantation and the house and lot in Wytheville and the two slaves. His railroad stock was to be divided among his five youngest children. The whole estate was to be divided among all the children and two children of his deceased daughter Mrs Sprinkle, "considered as one heir." He kept a book of advancements and each child was to account for what they had received in advance. His wife, Martha, and friend, Robert Gibboney, were to represent the estate. None of the children are named in the will. In the 1850 census Isaac Lahue was 63 years old and his wife, Martha, was age 48. Living with the family were David, age 15, Spencer, age 12, Elizabeth, age 11, Nancy, age 9 and Isaac P, age 5.

Isaac married Martha D "Patsey" Sayers, daughter of David Sayers and Rhoda Davis, on 27 Feb 1823 in Wythe County, Virginia. Martha was born on 23 Dec 1802 in Wythe County, Virginia. She died on 25 Aug 1875 in Wythe County, Virginia.
