Source: Original record found at the Evangelical Church in Westerburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany by Aileen S Johnson Summer 2000.

According to an article printed in a Westerburg newspaper in 1962, entitled "Were there Seekatz by the Sea?, a Johan den Secatzen was living in Westerburg in 1581. Old court records from 1581, cite Johan den Secatzen in a legal action by Hilzer Gutter regarding a meadow. Again in 1583, a piece of property was the object of another lawsuit between Johan Seekatz and Hilser Holtz Wustung. These actions were recorded in legal records found in Wiesbaden. This Johan, was probably the grandfather of Adam.

One German descendant stated the first 'Seekatz' came from the northern part of Germany or Scandanavia. His name reflected his place of origin - House by the Sea (Katzen von Zee). As the German evolved, the name became Seekatz.

Adam married Anna Elizabeth. Anna died in Feb 1760 in Westerburg, Hessen-Nassau, Preusen.

Anna Elizabeth was convicted and hanged for witchcraft in February 1660. Their family included 7 living children, of whom Johann Ludwig was the eldest. (Cited in "WESTERBURG STADT SEIT 1292" p. 229)

They had the following children.

+ 2 M i Johann Ludwig Seekatz was christened on 9 Jul 1643. He was buried on 28 Oct 1692.
