Number of Household Members: 2The Descendants of Francis Muncy I with Genealogy of Allied Families, revised by Mary Edith Shaw, 1956, pages 92-93 - From Diary of Catherine Wheatley Anderson - I have had it in my mind for a long time to write what I could remember about what I heard my parents say concerning my ancestors. I regret that I did not do so during the lifetime of my parents as I could leave to my descendants a much more interesting account. I will commence with my father's family. His grandfather's name was John Wheatley, who came to America when quite young, settled in New Jersey, married a French lady - do not remember her name. Don't mind seeing but two of his family, my grandfather, William, and his brother, Thomas Wheatley. They both married in New Jersey and moved to Penn. and settled in Fayette County. My Grandmother Wheatley's name was Ann Warren, also from France. [Note: Aunt Rebecca said that her mother was mistaken about this, and that Ann or Anne was not French, and was closely related to Joseph Warren, who died at Bunker Hill. FRA [Catherine's grandson F R Anderson]. My grandparents all lived in New Jersey until after the Revolutionary War and done good service during the time. William and Ann Wheatley were the parents of 12 children. I remember their names, but not in rotation. Their sons were Robert, John, Joseph, William, George, Isaac and Samuel; their daughters Mary, Elizabeth, Nancy, Amy and Hannah. I never was much acquainted with my father's family, but mind some of my aunts' names after they were married. Mary's husband's name was Abner Harris. Nancy's was Anthony Cunnard. Amy was married first to Uriah Marsh, had two sons, Joseph and Thomas. Her second husband was Jonathan Paul, had one son William. She married my mother's Uncle Daniel Tilton for her third husband. I think Elizabeth was twice married, first to a Mr Kelly then to a Mr Alen. I never saw Hannah since I wasn't old enough to remember her. Her Husband's name was Phierce. I remember seeing my Uncles Joseph and George, my Aunts Nancy and Amy. Joseph married Elsa Norris. I have seen her once with their children. George married Jane Wheeler - I have also seen her and her children. I have seen some of Aunt Nancy's family and all of Amy's. Uncle S. died young, left two sons, John and Samuel. I was somewhat acquainted with the two sons. There was quite a large descendant of my father's brothers and sisters, but they are all strangers to me now. My grandfather W. lived to be almost one hundred years old, his wife seventy-four years old. Uncle Joseph moved to Indiana some fifty years ago, lived to be one hundred and one years old. This is about the substance of what I can call to mind about my father's family.
History of Fayette County, Pennsylvania with biographical sketches of many of its pioneers and prominent men, by Franklin Ellis, Philadelphia, L H Everts and Company, 1882, page 656 - William Wheatley enlisted from New Jersey for the war of the Revolution and served through the conflict as Captain of a company of light cavalry. After the Revolution, he settled in Menallen. An old account book kept by him and beginning with the date June 15, 1785, is now in the possession of his great-grandson, John S Marsh, of Cook's Mill. Mr Marsh also has a full set of silver buttons worn by Capt Wheatley upon his Revolutionary uniform. Anthony Cunnard, an early settler of Franklin, married one of Captain Wheatley's daughters. She used to tell how during the battle of Trenton, she sat in the Wheatley mansion when a cannon ball tore its way through the house. Anthony Cunnard himself fought through the Revolution, and shared in the victory at Yorktown. Thomas Marsh, grandson of Capt Wheatley, died in Indiana. His living children are: Mrs Westcott of Fayette City, Mrs Duval of Ohio, and John S Marsh.

They came over the mountains to Westmoreland County, Penna.
William married Anna Warren on 5 Nov 1760 in Quaker Meeting, Burlington County, New Jersey. Anna was born on 15 Jun 1739 in Burlington County, New Jersey. She died on 29 May 1814 in Menallen, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
Said to be closely related to Joseph Warren, killed at Bunker Hill, by her great-granddaughter Catherine Wheatley. According to "Kelly 1740-1940" Anna was Joseph Warren's sister. However, according to "The Doctors Warren of Boston, First Family of Surgery", by Rhoda Truan, 1968, Joseph Warren Sr and his wife Mary Stevens had only four sons: Joseph born 17 Jun 1741, killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, Samuel born 1743, Ebenezer born 1753, and John born 1753.
